Welkom: A 36 year old Nigerian man appeared at the Welkom Magistrate’s court on 13 March 2020, on a charge of dealing in drugs and the case was postponed to the 20 March 2020 for bail application. Suspect remains in custody.

This follows his arrest on the 12 March 2020, by members of K9 unit whilst busy with their routine patrols.

They received information about a person who is dealing in drugs at Nokturne Street; in Flamingo Park; Welkom and on arrival at the mentioned address, he was found in possession of a bag containing 20 pieces of cocaine, dagga with the street valued of R3 500-00 and cash that amounts to R41 846- 55. He was immediately arrested.

Acting Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Solly Lesia applauded the members for the job well done. He said police will keep on removing drug dealers who are ruining the lives and future of the youth in our country especially in Welkom precinct.

He thanked the community of Welkom who worked together with police to uproot criminals who are destroying the nation.
