Johannesburg: The South African Sports Awards were held last night; 12 November 2017, in Ekhuruleni, Johannesburg. The occasion was held in honour and recognition of sports men and women who excelled in their various sporting codes.

The Minister of Sport and Recreation, the honourable; Mr TW Nxesi, on 27 October, announced the nominees for the 2017 SA Sport Awards. Minister Nxesi pointed out that SASA is about acknowledging and celebrating sport excellence and also recognizing sport achievement on and off the field of play. “When rewarding we also look into conduct of our sport stars and the role they play being our ambassadors”. The Minister said.

The 2017 SA Sport Awards recognise outstanding sporting achievements that occurred during the period 1 September 2016 to 30 September 2017.
