Celtic’s captain, Ndumiso Mabena celebrating with his teammates.

Bloemfontein: Bloemfontein Celtic recorded the biggest win of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season thus far, thumping Lamontville Golden Arrows 5-0 at Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Ndumiso Mabena, Menzi Masuku, Haris Tchilimbou, Mzwanele Mahashe and Andile Fikizolo all found the back of the net for the hosts in a thumping win.

Siwelele were up and running as early as the first minute as Tebogo Potsane pounced on a miscued pass before feeding Mabena – who didn’t let his team down – firing home from the edge of the area for the perfect start.

Masuku doubled the hosts lead in the 13th minute following intense pressure from the hosts who well and truly had the bit between their teeth. Potsane the provider once more as he picked out the former Orlando Pirates forward who cut onto his favoured right foot, before squeezing the ball past Edmore Sibande at the near post.

Arrows first chance finally fell to Danny Venter in the 33rd minute, but Jackson Mabokgwane was up to the task, pulling off a top save to deny the midfielder.

Knox Mutizwa then almost had the desired impact off the bench for Abafana Bes’thende when the ball fell at his feet in the 44th minute, but Mabokgwane denied the forward from point-blank range.

He was made to rue the miss as Celtic made it 3-0 in first-half stoppage-time. Tchilimbou on hand to provide the finishing touches to a superb team goal which involved four attackers exchanging quick passes in the Arrows box.

The onslaught continued following the break as Mashashe nodded home from a corner-kick in the 56th minute for his second goal in as many matches this season.

Fikizolo completed the rout in the 79th minute, bursting through on goal before finishing with aplomb to send shockwaves through Mzansi.
