Welkom: A 24 year old foreign national, who is a tuck shop owner will soon appear in Welkom Magistrate Court following his involvement in an alleged murder incident in Bedelia, Welkom over the weekend.
On Sunday, 4 November 2019, Police in Welkom responded to a complaint about someone who has been stabbed at Long Road, Bedelia. Upon their arrival at the scene, they found a 19 year old African male lying on the pavement being treated by the paramedics, who also rushed to the scene.
The victim had a stab wound on his waist, above his kidney and was then rushed to the hospital.
It is alleged that the suspects owns a tuck shop and was coming from outside when he apparently saw the victim stealing his biscuits from the shop window. They got into an argument where the suspect slapped the victim.
The victim fought back and the suspect pulled out his knife and stabbed the victim on his waist. The suspect was pointed out by witnesses and was arrested by Warrant Officer James Boshoff of Welkom Flying Squad on the sport.
Unfortunately the victim succumbed to his injury later at the hospital. The victim was later identified as the late Mr Junior Tlale. Next of kins were informed about the incident.
A case of murder was registered and the suspect appeared on 06 November 2019 at the Welkom Magistrates Court.
