Bloemfontein: The four suspects, Thapelo Simon Thibiri (35); Lekgotla Michael Teba (39); Teboho Ismael Ntshetsi (31) and Thabang William Mokomotoane (45), all from Botshabelo, appeared in the Bloemfontein magistrate court on Monday; 17 February 2020, on charges of house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of suspected stolen property.

The case was postponed to the 26 February 2020 for formal bail application.

On Saturday 15 February 2020, Parkweg Police Station were busy with patrols when they spotted a suspicious white hatch back motor vehicle driving in the Central Business District of Bloemfontein.

The white Ford Figo was driving facing on-coming traffic in Fitchardt Street. Police turned and indicated to the driver to stop. They followed the vehicle until it stopped in Henry Street near the Caltex filling station. Inside the white Ford Figo there were four occupants, all of them African males.

The police asked them to get out of the vehicle and searched them. A pair of gloves, pepper spray, a knife, a maroon balaclava, purse with bank cards issued on another person’s name and three cell phones were found on their possession.

Police further searched the vehicle and found a Browning R78 7.65 caliber pistol, a toy gun and sizeable amount of cash. On further searching, two boxes containing different brands of cigarette were found inside the boot of the Ford Figo. Further investigation is being done to ascertain if the suspects were involved in business robbery elsewhere.

A case of house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of suspected stolen property is being investigated at Parkweg SAPS.
