Sasolburg: The Free State Provincial Governments flagship outreach programme; Operation Hlasela, visited Metsimaholo Local Municipality, Sasolburg. This time, Free State Premier, Ace Magashule together with members of the Executive Council embarked on a service delivery journey to Sasolburg on Friday, the 17 November 2017.
“In every three months or so, we visit a particular town in the province. We are here today in Ssasolburg. During the State of the Province with have commited ourselves to make sure that we have 24 hours clinics. We have opened one in Bloemfontein, Batho Clinic, today we are opening the clinic named after Dr Che Guevara, from Cuba. We have a special relationship with Cuba as South Africans. We are opening a 24hour clinic here in Zamdela called Dr Che Guevara Clinic. We are opening and handing over houses for Military veterans who come all over South African,”
“We are also opening rental stocks (CRUs) to people who will be renting these houses during the time when they are working. We will also be handing over houses for people who were living in hostels and were demolished. Today those former hostel dwellers will be given decent houses. We will also be opening a park in Amelia. We also connecting 3000 houses with sewerage connections and also look at an area called Iraq with sewerage pipes. We are connecting with people of Zamdela.” Said the Premier in his address and laying out plans of the day.
The programme on Friday included various activities such as the visit to Land Care projects/ eradication invader plants; symbolic handover of 9 Military Veterans houses and handing over of blankets, food parcels and school shoes, walkabout at the Zamdela 4 Community Residential Units , Official opening of the duplex residential complex and symbolic handover to beneficiaries; visit to Sewer Connection of 3300 houses to evaluate the project, official opening of Amelia Recreational Park; official opening and walkabout at the Dr. Che Guevara Community Health Centre; mass meeting with members of the community and meeting with unemployed graduates. Parks will be created in every ward with the partnership of Rand Water sponsored the park, alongside with the assistance of SASOL.
