Welkom: Manhunt has been launched to trace seven armed robbery (African male) suspects after they robbed a supermarket in Dagbreek; Welkom. Cash was robbed at gun point and suspects are still at large.

On Sunday, a 23-year-old complainant said she was on duty as a cashier at a business store. She was then approached by five unknown African males, pointed her with firearms and demanded cash.

The suspects demanded that she opened the office door where money is kept, they also took cash that was in the cash tills before fleeing the scene.

According to witnesses, there were two additional suspects outside the business premises. During the robbery, the security guard tried to advance to suspects, but he was shot once on the chest and his firearm forcedly taken from him.

The manager of the business was informed about the robbery and hit one of the suspects with his car. Then three shots were fired in the direction of the manager while inside his vehicle. He sustained a shot wound on his upper leg.

Both the injured security officer and business manager, were taken to one of the hospitals in Welkom. A case of business robbery was registered for further investigation.
