Bloemfontein: National Community Radio Week (NCRW) held the first National Community Radio Weeks Special Live COMMUNITYPRENEUR Breakfast Broadcast discussion.
The purpose of the live broadcast was to educate and instil high motivation to Free State SMEs/ communitypreneur. The discussions officially launched the second instalment of the National Community Radio Week (NCRW), to be held in Mangaung in February 2018.
Under the theme “It starts with you”, the event was attended by Government, Local and Districts officials; SMMEs, Private Sector representatives and listeners of different Free State Provinces Community Radio Stations.
Speaking at the event, NCRFs Tumi Mokgoera and NCRWs Mduduzi Manana, said that the launch of the live simulcast broadcast will assist in ensuring capital raising for the sustainability of Community Radio Stations; the initiative directly speak to the people and assist in training of Community Radio Stations personnel.

In her address the Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro; Cllr O. Mlamleli said that she acknowledged the confidence given to Mangaung of hosting the National Council of Province, Taking Government to People). On top of our budget plan is service delivery, infrastructure development, Integrated Public Transport Network, Youth & Rural Development and building the economy. This can be achieved by including SMMEs and giving them to opportunity to tender for this projects. They (SMMEs) should also show excellent work ethics in executing this jobs. said the Executive Mayor in her opening address.
Speaking at the event, Hon. MEC N.S Leeto (Sports, Arts and Culture) said that the 27 October will be the day earmarked to celebrate the centenary of OR Tambo. Her departments programme included the development of local musicians, hosting of Mangaung Cultural Festival (MACUFE), OR Tambo Marathon, Sipho Mutsi Games and other new projects that will be rolled out. She also said that Small Business Development and Radical Economic Transformation should be implemented.
In his opening speech, Hon. MEC S. Mashinini (Police, Roads and Transport), said that small businesses should be given the necessary skills and tools for them to grow and flourish. Once that it is done, these businesses should not fall under small business tag and move up/out so that the space should be opened for another new small businesses. We should open doors and opportunities in Free State Province so as to stop the immigration of people to other Provinces. We must ensure that money moves around the Free State Province so as to benefit, develop and grow the economy of the Free State Province. Collectively, through mediums such as the Community Radio Sector, with SMMEs and various stakeholders, we can build the Free State Province we all desire. said MEC Mashinini.

Malakoane (Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs DESTEA) said that economic growth is important as it can alleviate poverty, inequality and unemployment. I have utmost respect for entrepreneurs as they will nag and nag, up until they get what they want. That is the only way of them getting sustainable income unlike employees (like me) who despite performing or not performing have guaranteed incomes at the end of the month. concluded MEC Dr. Malakoane.
