Welkom: The Police are looking for an unknown Nigerian man after he allegedly defrauded a woman off R200 000 in cash. Residents are also sternly warned to avoid giving people their hard earned cash to unknown people, under the pretense to double the money.

On the 31 January 2019, a 51 year old woman from Engcobo Eastern Cape met with the man who introduced himself as Freddie Phando at his office at R-building, Melck Street. The man allegedly told her that he will invest money and return it with interest.

The complainant then went with him in his office and she allegedly gave him R200 000.00. He then told her to come back after 21 days to fetch the money.

On Saturday 23 February 2019, the complainant contacted Mr Phando who came and took her with his vehicle to his office. This is where he left her there and said he was going to buy cold drink and that was the last time she saw him.

Mr Phando is dark in complexion, about 1.7m tall, medium built and bald headed. He was driving a red motor vehicle with false registration numbers.
