Welkom: Welkom Crime Intelligence Gathering and Economic Stumulus Package, launched an operation which led to the seizure of two firearms, Grinder Disc, Lunch Bar chocolates, Morvite and Peanuts.
Today, on the 30 May 2019, members of Crime Intelligence Gathering, received a tip-off about alleged unlicensed firearms in Reitzpark; Welkom. An operation was launched instantly by Welkom Crime Intelligence Gathering and Welkom Cluster Economic Stimulus Package, where a house in Hammond street was approached.
Members requested permission to search and while they were busy searching, the following items were found; two  unlicensed firearms that had their numbers filed off; seven boxes containing 23 X Grinder Discs in each box; 40 Morvite Instant Porridge; 220 Lunch Bar chocolates and 36 packets of Peanuts.
The two bothers, aged 21 and 36 years old, are facing alleged possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of suspected stolen properties charges.
They appeared in Welkom Magistrate Court on the 3 June 2019.
“We will continue to squeeze the space for criminals thus these arrests and seizures of firearms that might have done heinous crimes within our communities. My appreciation goes to residents of Welkom, who have listened to our call to be a reporting nation and in conclusion, members of Crime Intelligence and Economic Stumulus Package for their quick response to ensure that perpetrators were brought to book.” said Cluster Commander of Welkom, Major General Lerato Molale.
