Vredefort: Six suspects; aged between 26 and 34-years old, appeared in the Vredefort magistrate court yesterday; 20 January 2020, on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The suspects were arrested just before they could execute planned attack on Goedgedaght farm, Vredefort district.
On Saturday 18 January 2020, information which was complemented by vigilant farmers in the area, was followed with regard to a business robbery which was going to take place at Goedgedaght farm.
Joint Way-lay operations were conducted near Klein Bloemfontein farm by police officials in Vredefort, Crime Intelligence, Detectives, Station Commander, Cluster Commander, K9 unit and LCRC fully supported by farmers.
They stopped two vehicles, a white Hilux bakkie and a red VW polo both with Gauteng Province registration numbers. Upon searching the vehicle, 3 firearms were confiscated 1x 7.65 Norinko, 1x 9mm star and 1x supergotti 911 which was later found to be a toy gun.
Six (6) suspects were arrested.
