Thaba Nchu:  A 22-year-old male is in police custody after he was apprehended for allegedly raping a 20-year-old female.

On Sunday 4 November 2019, a victim was walking home from a nearby neighbourhood. She came across her boyfriend’s friend near a soccer field in Zone Two, Selosesha, Thaba Nchu.

The male suspect allegedly assaulted the victim and took her to his parental home in Zone 2, where he raped her throughout the night. She managed to escape the following morning and reported the matter to the police.

A case of rape was registered for further investigation and the suspect was traced and arrested in the early hours of Tuesday; 5 November 2019. He is expected to appear before Thaba Nchu Magistrates’ Court soon.

“Rape victims are advised not to change their clothes nor bath after they have been abused. They are however encouraged to report the abuse immediately to the nearest police station.” said Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jones Qhobosheane.
