Bultfontein: Six suspects appeared in the Builtfontein magistrate court on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property. The case against five suspects were withdrawn for further investigation and the sixth one, a foreign national, Mr. John Sethole’s case was postponed to 21 January 2020 for formal bail application.

On Saturday 11 January 2020, members of the Bultfontein Visible Policing Unit and Detective Services conducted an operation and followed-up on information to a house in Phahameng location in Builtfontein.

On arrival they found a 44-year-old suspect, Sethole who was selling car radios. He further led police members to the field and under a big rock they found 18 sets of car radios, 6 speakers, 4 sets of amplifiers, one Volvo car key and a red shoulder bag containing housebreaking implements.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the items were stolen from several houses in Parys, Winburg, Theunissen and Bultfontein. The items were also linked with theft out of a motor vehicle cases. The members proceeded to another identified addresses around the location and they found five other suspects in possession of stolen items.

Residents are sternly warned against purchasing stolen items as it constitutes a criminal offence and will be held liable thereof.
