Sasolburg: 42-year-old accused Buti Dauglas Kock, was sentenced to three life terms yesterday on the 27 June 2019, by the Sasolburg High court for rape, robbery, attempted murder and kidnapping.
The suspect and his friends, targeted unsuspecting females in and around Sasolburg. They used different vehicles to pick up females and take them to a secluded place in the Vaal and rape them. Two cases were reported back in 2015 and no suspect was arrested.
In February 2019, a woman was kidnapped, raped and assaulted after she was picked up by a motorist while hitchhiking in Sasolburg. The suspect who was with his friends, took the female to a house in Parys where they repeatedly raped her and assaulted her.
She managed to escape and notify the police. The suspect was arrested and he was therefore linked through DNA with three other cases including two others that happened back in 2015.
The suspect was charged with rape, attempted murder robbery and kidnapping. He was sentenced to three life terms for the three rapes and further 46 years for robbery, attempted murder and kidnapping.
Investigations were led by Detective Sgt Sophie Kgaeyane of the Sasolburg (FCS) Family violence Child protection and Sexual offences unit.
