Botshabelo: A 49-year-old male is in police custody after he was busted with counterfeit notes, worth over one hundred thousand rand in Botshabelo.

Selosesha Tactical Response Team and Selosesha Crime Intelligence Cluster, acted on an intelligence driven operation at Section U, Botshabelo on 17 July 2019.

Police found counterfeit money amounting to R1 400,00 hidden inside shoes on top of a wardrobe. A 40-year-old male was interrogated and upon being searched, police found R300,00 counterfeit money in his possession.

A thorough search continued inside and outside the house and police found more counterfeit notes valued at R105 900,00 wrapped with a black refuse plastic bag hidden inside an outside toilet.

In total, police confiscated R107 300,00 counterfeit money. Apprehended suspect is expected to appear before Botshabelo Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of unlawful possession of counterfeit money.
