Bethlehem: Lerato Mohono (25), appeared in court yes on Monday; 24 February 2020, in Lindley on a charge of rape and house breaking. The case was postponed to next week Monday, 02 March 2020 for bail application. The suspect remains in custody.

It is alleged that on the early hours of Friday; 20 February 2020, Mohono went to the 59-year-old victim’s place. She found her sleeping and he forced the door to open. The victim was awaken by Mohono when he demanded money from her.

When she told him she does not have money, Mohono began to assault the victim before raping her. After that Mohono took the victim’s cellphone and fell asleep on the victim’s bed. When realizing that Mohono is snoring the victim went to call for help from her neighbours.

They found Mohono still in deep sleep. Police were alerted and suspect was arrested from victim’s place. Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane welcomed Mohono’s arrest and says those who are in conflict of the law will always face the full might of the law.

She thanked the community of Lindley by working together with the police to arrest the suspect and hand him over to the police without taking law into their hands.
