Welkom: On the 07 July 2019, a 58 year old woman was from church when she was approached by three unknown African male persons who posed as concerned friends at her property.

These men further mentioned that they have an outstanding rent to pay, then the victim opened her security door. They forced themselves inside her house.

One of the suspects strangled her, jewellery and cash were demanded. They took the scissor and cut her clothes and used electric wire to tied her up. A towel was used to cover her head and was forced under her bed.

One of the suspects answered a phone call and responded by saying “OK”, then two additional suspects entered her premises. The house was ransacked. Suspects found a safe and demanded safe keys. The handgun and an undisclosed amount of cash were taken.

These robbery ordeal lasted for five hours and after that, the suspects left the house in Bashee street; St Helena; Welkom. A 07 year old grandchild assisted to untie her and called for help of the neighbours.

The victim found that the bag containing jewellery and cash was left on her bed. Handgun and some coins from the huge tin were taken.

The incident was reported to Welkom Police and a case of house robbery was registered for further investigation.
