Ventersburg: Three suspects were arrested and their vehicle confiscated after they were found with Anti-retroviral tablets at a mobile vehicle control point.
Members of the Welkom Tactical response Team were busy with a vehicle control point just outside Ventersburg on Friday 10 January 2020. They stopped a brown coloured Toyota Corrolla with three occupants aged between 30 and 65. While searching the vehicle, members found 265 bottles of ARV tablets.
The three; including 45 year old female, were asked to provide documentation and transport thereof, but they could not submit such documents. They were arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods and the vehicle was also confiscated, as it was used in the commission of crime.
They will appear in the Ventersburg Magistrate court soon.
This comes after two people were arrested and 1068 bottles of ARVs were confiscated near the Railway station in Bloemfontein on Thursday, 09 January 2020. Those ARV’s had an estimated value of over R1 million.
Members reacted to intelligence driven information about a silver BMW vehicle and spotted it. They tactically approached the vehicle and searched it. Inside the boot, they discovered boxes and bags covered with a blanket.
Those boxes and bags were full of bottles containing antiretroviral tablets.
The two suspects found in the vehicle; the 33 year old man alleged to be employee of Department of Health based in the Eastern Cape and 45 year old male, were arrested and taken into custody.
A case of possession of suspected stolen property was opened at Parkweg for further investigation. They will appear in court soon.
