Tierpoort: Two suspects Kwini Isaac Budutu (57) and Tshotleho Alfred Makhele (27), who happened to be father and son, appeared in Bloemfontein magistrate court on Tuesday; 14 November 2017, on a charge of attempted murder. The case is postponed to 28 November 2017 for formal bail application. Both suspects remained in custody.
It is alleged that on Sunday; 12 November 2017; at about 09:00, Sergeant Mokone Moroane and Const Pitso Bulane were attending a case at Pampita farm where the complainant asked police to intervene in the altercation between her and another lady. While talking to the complainant, Kwini appeared from nowhere and started insulting both police officers on the scene. They then tried to talk to him, but his son, Tshotleho hit Sgt Moroane with the fist. Suddenly, it became a big fight that included the community of Pampita on two police officers.
Kwini then stabbed Sgt Moroane on the right hand side of the back with a knife and then Const Bulane, at the back. The two Police Officers called for back-up and two suspects were arrested on the scene. Both Police Officers, were then rushed to Rosepark hospital for medical attention.
On a separate incident, the complainant Sgt Tshediso Lisenyane was on duty transporting CPF members from Clocolan meeting to Senekal. On their way to Tambo square in Senekal, they met with group of people. He then stopped and inquired about what was happening.
The group said they were attacked by group of gangs who were also attacking everyone. Suddenly one of members in a group, Setjhaba Isaac Ramabulane (18) insulted police officer and stabbed him with a sharp object on the nose. He appeared in court on Monday, 13 November 2017 and was released on free bail.
The case was postponed to 11 December for further investigation.
Investigation continues on both incidents.
