Welkom: Members of POP Reaction Task Team were once again applauded for a good job after they arrested a woman for being in possession of copper cable and other property.
It was reported in June; last month, that Cable Theft in Matjhabeng has become very critical and where criminals target areas such as Odendaalsrus, Virginia, Welkom and Bronville where copper cable that cost millions of rand was stolen, thus resulting in residents being affected and left without electricity.
On Thursday 03 July 2019, POP Reaction Team members received a tip-off about a person who is in possession of Copper cable at one of the shacks in Phomolong village.
Upon arrival, they found a 31 year old woman in possession of 5 pallets of clear view fence, 5 fence poles, roll of copper wire weighing 20,5kg, 2 Riobi grinders, 1 Dewatt drill machine and 23m long electric cord.
All confiscated items were identified by Matjhabeng municipality.
