Odendaalsrus: On Monday; the 13 April 2020, a 75 year old victim went to use an outside toilet at his residential place in Kutloanong; Odendaalsrus, and left the door opened.

On his return, he found the suspect waiting for him inside the house. The suspect tied the old man`s hand with a wire and forced something inside his mouth to prevent him from screaming.

The suspect then robbed the victim of a purse with pension money inside, cellphone and retail store card. Neighbours heard the noise whilst the suspect was trying to flee and gave chase.

A Community Patroller was informed who alerted Sergeant Lerato Mofong and Captain Jeanette Ikaneng. Members instantly followed up this information to a house in Block 7 where the suspect was found.

A purse, retail store card and sim card were found were found in his possession. He then went to show the police where the cellphone had been sold.

A 23 year old suspect was arrested together with his 36 year old friend who sold the victim`s cellphone. Both were charged for house robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties respectively.

Investigation continues.
