Roadside: The 68 year old man from Ezenzeleni; near Warden, was arrested on the N3 near Roadside after police found five slaughtered sheep allegedly stolen at certain farm in Vrede district.

On the 17 March 2021, Roadside police were patrolling on the N3 road when they stopped a suspicious maroon Toyota Corolla, with FS registration and questioned the driver about his driving in the area on that time. He took police to a certain farm where allegations were that another vehicle was loading stolen sheep. The information was followed but the vehicle had left.

Investigation led the police to Ezenzeleni; near Warden, where a white Toyota Etios was found with five slaughtered sheep inside and in the boot. Both vehicles and carcasses were seized and the suspect arrested. Other suspects are still on the run.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the slaughtered sheep were stolen at a farm in Vrede. The suspect appeared before the Vrede Magistrate court yesterday; 18 March 2021, facing charge of stock theft.
