Bloemfontein: The Public of Metsimaholo is hereby informed that Dr. Che Guevara Clinic is temporarily closed for decontamination with immediate effect after one of the personnel tested positive to Covid-19.
On Wednesday, 17 June 2020, the Public is advised to make use of other clinics nearby which are; Amelia Mobile Clinic and Harry Gwala Clinic.
The Primary Health Care bus is to be deployed there from Thursday; 18 June 2020, until the decontamination work is done and completed.
Boitumelo Hospital’s situation:
This comes after yesterday‘s statement by the Department’s response to the situation at Boitumelo Hospital in Kroonstad where 10 members of staff (2 Doctors, 5 Nurses, 1 Admin and 2 Clinical Support) tested positive to Covid-19.
Contact tracing has been done, quarantine of those who tested positive and decontamination of the affected areas is also done without closing the entire facility.
The Department briefed all night duty staff, facilitated their screening to determine close contacts for testing and decontamination.
Free State MEC for Health: Montseng Tsiu, Dr. David Motau: HOD and Senior Management, had an extensive briefing session with Unions about plans implemented by the Department to curb the situation from getting out of hand.
The Department made a commitment that there will be further briefings with other staff and careful monitoring of environment to ensure that no patients and members of the public get infected.
