The journey of thousand miles start with one simple step. Another new year and another new start of the school year. Some were going to school for the first time and as such starting their Grade 1. Whilst others were looking forward to Grade 2, 3, and so on.
This was the proudest moments for children, parents and teachers alike. We could not be more than proud of our offsprings as they go through their school journey.
Last week we requested our readers to send pictures of their little ones going to school. We thank you for your responses and responses(check out some of the pictures below).
In the good all days, it would take the whole village or community to raise a child. Thus, no harm would easily befall them. As we live in this current situation, with perverts, predators and abductors, preying on our children, I could not over emphasise that we protect and take care of our children.
The responsibility rest on all our shoulders, be it your child or children. We owe it to ourself, to generations before us and say and/or stop abuse of children. to stop the rot, revatalise our morals, values and beliefs.
Nelson Mandela once said: “The children must, at last, play in the open veld, no longer tortured by the pangs of hunger or ravaged by the disease or threatened with the scourge of ignorance, molestation and abuse, and no longer required to engage in deeds whose gravity exceeds the demands of their tender years.”
“Our children are the rock on which our future will be built, our greatest asset as a nation. They will be the leaders of our country, the creators of our national wealth who care for and protect our people.”
