Bloemfontein: The 39-year-old gardener who was sought for the house robbery and murder of Maria Magdelina Cameron in Bayswater; Bloemfontein, was arrested on Wednesday night, 24 November 2021.
The Investigation Team that included Detectives through the support of various specialised units which were put together by the Mangaung Metro District Commissioner; Major General Arthur Adams, worked tirelessly around the clock until the suspect was arrested.
Community Safety Structures, Media Houses and ordinary law abiding citizens, left no stone unturned, working together and exchanging information and possible leads that led to the ultimate success.
Crime Intelligence members gathered information that was processed into intelligence driven operation that led the team to a house in R-Section in Botshabelo. The team tactically surrounded the shack dwelling at the informal settlement, cordoned it off and pounced on the suspect.
Expensive alcohol brands reported to have been stolen during the house robbery and blood stained clothing were seized at the scene. Further investigation continues.
“I want to send special word of condolences to the family and appreciate efforts by our joint venture which led into the apprehension of the perpetrator of this ruthless murder.” said Major General Arthur Adams.
The suspect will appear in the Bloemfontein magistrate court on Monday; 29 November 2021.
