Bothaville: A 27-year old, Elias Sebetoane, was found guilty and sentenced on 08 February 2019 for the murder of his girlfriend. He will spend 18 years in jail.
It was discovered during trial that the victim had a quarrel with her boyfriend after he fetched her from her friend’s place after a drinking spree. On the way home he hacked her with an axe all over the body, covered her with a blanket and left her on the side of the road.
In the early hours of Sunday the 29 July 2018, the body of Ms Madillo Molale (25) from Inhoek farm in Bothaville district, was found on the side of the road in R719 between Bothaville and Hoopstad.
The same morning, the intensive investigation conducted by Sergeant Dannis Mokoena, Sergeant Sebolelo Mokatsa and Constable Tshepo Kotelo of Bothaville Detectives, led to the arrest of her boyfriend, the accused from his hiding spot.
The murder weapon, self-made axe, was also found in his possession. He appeared before Bothaville Magistrate’s court and the case was transferred to Kroonstad High Court.
