Qwa-Qwa: Free State Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Bakoena Ba Mopeli hosted an inauguration of Morena Moremoholo Mopeli, the younger brother to the late Morena e Moholo wa Bakoena Ba Mopeli, Morena Thokoana Mopeli who passed away earlier this year, January 2018.

The ceremony was held on Saturday, 13 October 2018 at Charles Mopeli stadium in Qwa-Qwa.

King Letsie III attended the inauguration of Chief Mopeli. Also in attendance were the Premier of the Free State; Hon Sisi Ntombela, MEC of Corporate Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta); Hon Peter Oupa Kgoabane, Royal Family members, officials from Provoncial Government, District Municipality and Local Municipality.

The Premier of Free State, Hon S.H Ntombela, with powers vested in her In terms of section 28(9)(c) of the Traditional Leadership and Governance Framework Act, Act no 41 of 2003 as amended and contemplated in section 2B and 10A, inaugurated the successor, Morena Moremoholo, as Principal Traditional Leader for Bakoena Ba Mopeli Traditional Community.

In preparation for the Saturday’s inauguration, the MEC of Corporate Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta); Peter Oupa Kgoabane, paid a surprise visit to Bakoena Royal House; in Namahali Village, in supporting King Moremoholo Motebang Mopeli in celebrating the birthday of His Majesty’s grandmother who would have turned 93, on the day of the visit.

The celebration was at the school that was named after the Queen Mother, Mampoi High School in Namahali. Bearing the message of gratitude and appreciation towards late Queen Mother, the King accompanied by MEC Kgoabane, Princess Manapo Mopeli and Royal Family members, Traditional Leaders and government officials from both Maluti a Phofung and Thabo Mofutsanyana.
