Bultfontein: Two suspects, Molati Petrus Ntema (34) and Lerato Ntema (34) appeared in the Hennenman magistrate court on alleged possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property and armed robbery.
Their case was postponed to the 11 December 2019 for bail application. Both suspects remained in custody.
On Monday 02 December 2019, the members of Welkom Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) conducted a preliminary investigation and tracing of the suspects. The investigation led to an address at Masimong flats were the two suspects were found.
This followed a farm attack and robbery at Doringpan farm, Bultfontein in the early hours of 28 November 2019 where stockvel savings was taken at gun point. When searching a flat in Masimong, members of AGU discovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunitions, 4 explosives, bolt cutter, step ladder, pair of tekkies, axe and money detector in their room.
The items were all seized as well as the clothes they were wearing on the day of the farm attack.
The Provincial Commissioner of Free State, Lieutenant General Moeketsi praised the members of the Anti-Gang Unit for their job well done and the positive attitude in ensuring that the residents feel and are safe.
