Bethlehem: Bohlokong Detectives are investigating an inquest case after two people were found dead in a shack they were renting at Motaung Street in Bethlehem in the early hours of Saturday; 12 September 2020.

According to allegations both deceased were having drinks with other tenants on Friday; 11 September 2020, until the early hours of Saturday; 12 September when they went to sleep.

Few hours after that, they went into their shack. Other tenants noticed flames coming from the couple’s shack. Attempts were made to extinguish the strong fire, to no avail. The police and Local fire Department were called to the scene.

On arrival at the scene, the police found the burnt bodies of the couple who were identified as Thapelo Mashinini and Dikeledi Chaka. It is suspected that Mashinini is originally from Qwaqwa and Chaka hails from Clocolan. Due to the nature of burns, it was not possible to determine their ages and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
