Pretoria: As announced by his Excellency, President MC Ramaphosa, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa today is 80 412.

Regrettably, a further 49 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: 6 from Eastern Cape and 43 from Western Cape. This brings the total deaths to 1674.

The mortality rate is 2.1%.

The number of recoveries continues to rise as well, with the total number to date at 44 331. This translates to a recovery rate of 55.1%.

Therefore, there are currently 34 407 active cases.
