Luckhoff: “We must begin to develop our very own contractors in the province and fast track the process of empowering Free Staters. We must intensify the process of creating job creators in the province and make sure they become part of the mainstream economy. The first step is to empower our people with relevant expertise needed in the economy.” said Premier Ntombela addressing a pre service delivery briefing in Luckhoff, Letsemeng local municipality before before handing of houses to beneficiaries.
Christmas presents came in early and at a critical moment, for five beneficiaries of houses in Luckhoff. Beneficiaries of the Standard Bank sponsored houses received their houses from Premier Sisi Ntombela and MEC D Kotzee on Thursday, 22 November 2018.
Beneficiaries were elderly and in need of houses. They have also been on the waiting list for government subsidized houses for a while. These houses were a sigh of relief, a dream come true and answers to prayers for better homes.
The Department of Human Settlements established a partnership with Standard Bank through which the Bank’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme donates houses to beneficiaries in need throughout the province.
To date, through this programme, they have completed 2 houses in Heidedal, 5 houses in Parys and recently 5 in Luckhoff. This programme truly illustrates patriotism of the bank through ploughing back to communities in the most meaningful manner – providing a foundation to a better life.
Besides the houses completed in Luckhoff, additional 3 houses are being planned for Brandfort during this financial year. The MEC for Human Settlements, Mme Dora Kotzee welcomed the contribution by Standard Bank as a true sign of allegiance to the country’s people and their needs.
She encouraged Standard Bank to proceed with this contribution to fulfilling the Freedom Charter’s promise of houses, security and comfort.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would ever call such a beautiful house my home. I will sleep like a queen because of the government. I am grateful to both the MEC and the Premier for remembering us the poor of the poorest in the outskirts of our province.” said an emotional Mme Kobus Eyster of Luckhoff, as she received her newly built house.
