Sasolburg: Four suspects arrested for the murder of a woman from Zamdela, made their first appearance in the Sasolburg magistrate court on Tuesday, 31 March 2020.
The case against the fourth suspect was withdrawn because of lack of evidence linking him to the crime. The case against the three suspect was remanded to Thursday, 02 April 2020.
A 56 year old woman; who is the deceased’s mother-in-law, a 38 year old deceased’s sister-in-law and a 30 year old man, appeared in court on Thursday and the case was postponed to Wednesday; 15 April 2020 for bail application, while the three suspects remain in custody.
This follows the incident that happened in 03 February 2019, when the 34 year old woman first disappeared. It was alleged by her sister-in-law that she last saw her on 03 February 2019, at her residential place in Harry Gwala; Zamdela, carrying a small handbag like somebody who is going somewhere and never returned home till late.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was strangled at her residential place and her body was dropped in a pit toilet as alleged by one of the suspects.
Investigation into the matter still continues.
