Bloemfontein: The African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State has suspended the party’s provincial chief whip; Vusi Tshabalala, as a member and party leader in the legislature.
The former Executive Mayor of Maluti-a-Phofung has been suspended as the member of the ANC with immediate effect. This affects his participation in all the activities of the ANC.
His suspension emanates from an allegation of his support to Independent candidates for the coming local government elections. The ANC has appointed comrade Thabo Meeko to act as the Chief Whip of the ANC until the Disciplinary Committee has disposed of the matter.
“We, furthermore, welcome the reshuffling of the Executive Council by the Premier. This is in line with the call by the community of the Free State for improvement in services delivered by different spheres of government. We hope and believe that comrades given responsibility to lead different portfolios will discharge their mandate with utmost responsibility and tenacity.” the ANC in Free State said in its statement.
“The ANC, in the province, has intensified the elections campaign by visiting different areas en masse as part of assessing organisational strength and challenges. We are confident that the general populace still regards the ANC as the hope to change their lives, and we need not fail them,”
“The ANC Free State believes that these recent developments shall go a long way in improving the work of ANC deployees to improve the lives of the people.” concluded the statement.
