Bloemfontein: As of the 29 September 2020, Free State COVID-19 confirmed cases stand at 46 558, with 204 new cases.

The Provincial new case data is as follows:

There are 204 new cases:

  • 157 in Mangaung Metro;
  • 5 in Fezile Dabi;
  • 5 Thabo Mofutsanyana;
  • 30 in Lejweleputswa;
  • 6 in Xhariep; and
  • 1 Unknown districts

The Provincial new case data is as follows:

  • Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province 46 558;
  • 33 017 (71%) recoveries;
  • The prevalence among people younger than 20 years is 12% (5 388 out of 46 558 reported COVID-19 positive cases);
  • The median (IQR) age of cumulative COVID-19 cases is 40 (29-52) years;
  • 1 021 deaths reported in the province till date, with highest case fatality rate reported in Lejweleputswa District;
  • The provincial case fatality rate is 2.2%;
  • The median (IQR) age of COVID-19 deaths is 63 (54-72) years;
  • Majority of the deaths fall within the age group of 55-64 years (295 out of 1 021 reported deaths);
  • Although more females are infected (60%; 28 052 out of 46 397), 49% of deaths are recorded among males (495 out of 1 021 reported deaths).

“Every possible attempt is made to ensure that the data reflected in the National stats is the same as that which appears on the Provincial stats,”

“However, due to differences in retrospective data consolidation, reporting delays and cut-off times for report production, the number of new cases reflected in provincial and national reports may differ.” said Free State Department of Health spoke-person; Mondli Mvambi.
