Bloemfontein: On Thursday; 11 November 2021, the Free State Executive Council signed a pledge of quality service delivery, good governance, fiscal and financial management.
The signing of the pledge comes after an improved preliminary report from the Auditor General.
Despite encouraging signs of improvement in the province’s audit outcomes, the Executive Committee, led by Honourable Premier; Sisi Ntombela, believes that this is only the beginning and that there is room for improvement.
Speaking at the Pledge signing, the Premier expressed delight at the work being done by Government Garage (GG).
“We are encouraged by the very positive upsurge at GG, and I want to express my deepest appreciation to GG for achieving a clean audit report from a very damning outcome. Indeed, this is an encouraging sign and a foundation to build upon,” she said.
Although there has been a notable improvement in various departments, the leadership acknowledged that there is still quite a long way to go to achieving excellence.
However, gradual movement in the right direction is encouraging. The Premier also expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their apparent will and commitment to walk the path of good and clean governance.
The pledge was signed by the executive authority, accounting officers (HODs) and Chief Financial Officials, as a commitment to building the much wanted Free State.
“This pledge is the beginning of restoring dignity and a recommitment to our social contract with the people of the province and we are committed to serve them with absolute distinction. We do appreciate that the road to glory will not be an easy one and it requires sacrifice and dedication from all parties involved and we are willing to able to make the necessary changes.” concluded Premier; Sisi Ntombela.
