Bloemfontein: From April 2018 until December 2018 investigators from various FCS Units working together with highly dedicated NPA officials, managed to get 67 life sentences and 15 sentences where accused were sentenced to 20 years or more in prison.

Provincial Commissioner of Free State Lt. General Moeketsi Sempe said:

“On behalf of the victims and the people of FS he would want to appreciate the sterling work done by FCS together with the prosecutors. He also said that this will send a strong message to the perpetrators that police shall leave no stone unturned in dealing with these matters. We shall continue to investigate these matters without any fear or favor. It is against this background that these matters were given certificates of excellence. My deepest appreciation goes to the leadership of NPA led by Advocate Sumaro and prosecutors,“ Sempe said.

“Crimes against women and children is a priority for South African Police Service and government. In our quest to deal with these crimes our Family Violence and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) investigators has done a sterling work during their investigation of these crimes and court appearances.” General Sempe concluded.
