Bloemfontein: On Monday; 24 May 2021, the Free State Province has recorded 331 new COVID-19 positive cases and 21 deaths.

The latest Free State COVID-19 data is as follows:

There are 331 new cases:

  • 179 (n/N; 179/331 = 54%) in Mangaung Metro;
  • 41 in Fezile Dabi;
  • 41 Thabo Mofutsanyana;
  • 38 in Lejweleputswa;
  • 32 in Xhariep; and
  • 0 unknown districts.

Provincial cases data: 

  • Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province stand at 97 908;
  • Recoveries stand at 87 270 (89%) recoveries;
  • The proportion of confirmed cases among people younger than 20 years is 12% (11 698 out of the 97 908);
  • The median (IQR) age of cumulative COVID-19 cases is 40 (29-54) years;
  • More females are infected (60%; 58 199 out of the 97 615);
  • 4 225 deaths have been reported in the province to date, with highest case fatality rate reported in both Thabo Mofutsanyana and Fezile Dabi Districts;
  • The provincial case fatality rate is 4.3%;
  • The median (IQR) age of COVID-19 deaths is 48 (34-63) years;
  • Majority of the deaths are in older age groups – 45 years and above (3 688 out of the 4 225); and
  • 41% of deaths are recorded among males (1 753 out of the 4 225).
