Bloemfontein: On Tuesday, 25 May 2021, the Free State Province has recorded 435 new COVID-19 positive cases and 32 deaths.

The latest Free State COVID-19 data is as follows:

There are 435 new cases:

  • 247 (n/N; 247/435 = 57%) in Mangaung Metro;
  • 34 in Fezile Dabi;
  • 32 Thabo Mofutsanyana;
  • 90 in Lejweleputswa;
  • 32 in Xhariep; and
  • 0 unknown districts.

Provincial cases data: 

  • Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province stand at 98 343;
  • Recoveries stand at with 87 491 (89%);
  • The proportion of confirmed cases among people younger than 20 years is 12% (11 756 out of the 98 343);
  • The median (IQR) age of cumulative COVID-19 cases is 40 (29-54) years;
  • More females are infected (60%; 58 458 out of the 98 048);
  • 4 257 deaths reported in the province till date, with highest case fatality rate reported in both Thabo Mofutsanyana and Fezile Dabi Districts;
  • The provincial case fatality rate is 4.3%;
  • The median (IQR) age of COVID-19 deaths is 48 (34-63) years;
  • Majority of the deaths are in older age groups – 45 years and above (3 688 out of the 4 257); and
  • 41% of deaths are recorded among males (1 766 out of the 4 257).
