Bloemfontein: The Free State Department of Health confirms that the entire 16 member management team of Free State School of Nursing (FSSON) has been affected by COVID-19.
These members have been sent to self isolation. The campus community was informed and contact tracing was initiated.
This unexpected situation has prompted the Department to contemplate putting all Campuses of FSSON on recess for 2 weeks whilst all affected personnel recovers, so that this may not negatively impact on the educational programme.
FSSON has campuses in Bloemfontein known as South, another in Welkom called FSSON North and in QwaQwa called FSSON East. Currently, the Department is busy with Risk Assessment to determine who can be safely sent home if conditions are good, who can be sent for isolation and quarantine.
The Health District Manager of Mangaung Metro is following this up for a final determination.
“It is unfortunate that our panicking students have already spoken to the media to portray a picture that they were evicted from the campus to their homes. This story will be flighted on SABC tonight.” said Free State Health Spoke-person; Mondli Mvambi.
