Bloemfontein: Yesterday, 01 April 2020, the Premier of Free State; Sisi Ntombela, announced a number of interventions to fight Covid-19 in the Free State Province.
The Premier said that Fikaphatso dam was at 41% percent capacity, therefore water will be restored in Maluti-A-Phofung on Tuesday; 07 April 2020.
She said that two thousand three hundred and eighty eight (2388) Water tankers are earmarked for various informal settlements and of the said number, six hundred and sixty six (666) have already been delivered.
Sixty eight (68) Water delivery vehicles have been procured to ensure the provision of water across the province.
Temporary Structures will be erected at various informal settlements; Five thousand five hundred and one (5501) in Mangaung, one thousand one hundred and fifty (1150) in Matjhabeng and one thousand one hundred and thirty one in (1131) Harrismith, Maluti-A-Phofung.
Six hundred (600) caregiver already on the ground and additional thousand (1000) to be deployed by national government for testing and tracing COVID-19 cases.
After engagement with Traditional leaders, the province has decided to suspend all initiation schools this year.
The province has resolved to fumigate all public building, taxi ranks, clinics, halls and others.
The Premier thanked all those who continue to adhere to the lockdown guidelines and the hygiene measures.
