Bloemfontein: As of the 24 January 2021, Free State COVID-19 confirmed cases stand at 73 792, with 469 new cases. Positive cases continue to rise in Thabo Mofutsanyana District as majority cases reported, came from there.

The latest Free State COVID-19 new positive data is as follows:

There are 469 new cases:

  • 76 in Mangaung Metro;
  • 86 in Fezile Dabi;
  • 229 Thabo Mofutsanyana;
  • 56 in Lejweleputswa;
  • 22 in Xhariep; and
  • 0 Unknown districts

Provincial cases data:

  • Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province stand at 73 792;
  • Recoveries are now 61 374 (83%);
    The prevalence among people younger than 20 years is 12% (8 488 out of 73 792);
    The median (IQR) age of cumulative COVID-19 cases is 40 (29-53) years;
    More females are infected (60%; 43 922 out of 73 569);
  • 2 625 deaths reported in the province to date, with highest case fatality rate reported in Lejweleputswa District;
  • The provincial case fatality rate is 3.6%;
    The median (IQR) age of COVID-19 deaths is 64 (54-74) years;
  • Majority of the deaths are in older age groups – 45 years and above (2 290 out of 2 625); and
    43% of deaths are recorded among males (1 126 out of 2 625).
