Bloemfontein: A 32 year old man will be spending the coming 40 years of his life behind bars for his criminal activities.
Joseph Dimpho Mohapi was sentenced by the Bloemfontein Magistrate court on Thursday 28 November 2019, after he noticed that he had no chance of escaping his deeds.
With all the witnesses available and ready to testify in court, he decided to plead guilty on all charges brought before him.
According to the investigating officer; Detective Warrant Officer Sias Smit of Mangaung, DNA Task Team, he received a DNA lead regarding a known person who was identified by DNA. The suspect Mohapi was traced at Grootvlei prison in Bloemfontein having a pending case.
He was then further charged on 6 housebreaking, business burglary and possession of housebreaking implements cases. His trail started in mid-November until he was sentenced last week Thursday.
Mohapi was sentenced for 6 charges of housebreaking, amounting to six years imprisonment each and four years imprisonment, for possession of housebreaking implements.
The Magistrate indicated in her sentence that, the sentences shall not run concurrently. That means he will be serving 40 year jail term.
