Odendaalsrus: Members of Odendaalsrus SAPS were reporting off duty when a suspicious white bakkie was stopped.
On the 17 July 2021, members of Odendaalsrus SAPS were reporting off duty and traveling from Odendaalsrus to Welkom.
They were traveling in Stateway road; Welkom, when they received information about a vehicle suspected to be transporting stolen goods. This white Nissan bakkie was identified in Stateway road and when members approached it, three African males fled from the scene towards the nearby bushes.
One of them, a 31 year-old male from Bronville, was arrested.
While members were searching the vehicle, copper cable with estimated value of up to R500 000, implements used to commit crime were seized.
The suspect will appear in court soon, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen copper cable, house breaking implements and road traffic act. The registration number of the car and disk were also not corresponding.
