Welkom: A 32 year old Lesotho National appeared in the Welkom Magistrates Court after an operation information, led to his arrest.
On Tuesday 19 November 2019, members of Welkom Public Order Police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties when they received information about a dagga dealer around Welkom CBD.
The Crime Intelligence Unit, together with the POP members, followed up leads where an African male was spotted holding a black and red plastic bag. He was intercepted near Rootz Butchery in Welkom.
The police searched the suspect and found inside the plastic; 85 poke of Swati Dagga and quarter of lose dagga in 1litre plastic bag; tucked inside a black and yellow squeeze bottles, weighing 145 grams with a total street value of R1130.00 and amount of R3405.10 cash.
The members further discovered that the suspect is a foreign National and could not produce valid documents as to his visit in South Africa.
The suspect was arrested on the spot then detained at Welkom Police Station and faces charges involving dealing in dagga and illegal immigration.
The suspect appeared on the 21 November 2019 in the Welkom Magistrate Court.
