Welkom: An operation was held by Junior Management Core (JMC) which was led by Warrant Officer Tshepo Sejake – Chairperson and Visible Policing Commander of Thabong, Colonel Pule Solo on the 26th November 2021.

This structure called JMC comprises of junior members within the SAPS who became a force multiplier to Safer Festive Season Operation. Members from Police Stations within Lejweleputswa District participated.

While members focused on Visible Policing, they received information about dealing in drugs. A 29-year-old man was arrested for dealing in dagga in Modikeng Street. He attempted to evade arrest however, he was swiftly apprehended and found with loose dagga which weighed 320 grams, 14 pokes of dagga, two 1 litre plastic bags containng dagga which was found and seized.

Twelve more arrests were secured for selling liquor without a license, two for dealing in dagga, others were arrested for not wearing their mask – violation of COVID-19 Disaster Management Act Regulations and Traffic Act violations. The operation proceeded to Hani Park Bronville where five suspects were arrested for selling liquor without a license.

This objective of the operation is to ensure residents and shoppers are safe and feel safe during this festive period. Thus both Thabong and Bronville, were painted blue by men and women in blue.

The Chairperson of the JMC in Lejweleputswa District, Warrant Officer Tshepo Sejake, commended all efforts achieved by the team and concluded that it was just the beginning and that more operations are coming that will be led by junior members within the SAPS.

The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Major General Lerato Molale appreciated this initiative by junior members from Lejweleputswa District led by Warrant Officer Tshepo Sejake and further thanked residents for adhering to the call of reporting criminals and trusting the Police with sensitive information.
