Welkom: Lejweleputswa District is working very hard to ensure that all health facilities both private and public coordinate their work very well in terms of management of availability of Covid19 beds and management of cases in the District.
This comes after the District Health Department and the Provincial Health Departments in the Free State Province both said that the current indication is that beds earmarked for COVID-19, are full but the response of the teams working on this is that these beds are sometimes full because they admit both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients.
This means that health facilities are admitting COVID-19 sick patients or patients with visible signs and symptoms as well as asymptomatic; which are patients who are not sick or those not showing any signs and symptoms.
The team is therefore doing due diligence on who is supposed to be in hospital (both private and public) so that those can continue to be admitted whilst decanting is done for those that are not sick but cannot isolate at their homes, to be taken to Government Quarantine sites.
As at 15 July 2020, the COVID-19 confirmed cases in the Free State stand at 6 561 with 45 deaths.
Free State cases are as follows according to different districts:
- Fezile Dabi = 1 243;
- Lejweleputswa = 1 708;
- Mangaung Metro = 2 315;
- Thabo Mofutsanyana = 814;
- Xhariep = 281; and
- Unallocated = 200
