Bloemfontein: The organisers of Sparta Macufe Cup, C-Squared, held a media launch yesterday; 04 October 2017, at Naval Hill Bloemfontein. In attendance was the MEC of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation; Me Mathabo Leeto, Acting Mayor of Mangaung Metro; Cllr Lulama Titi-Odidi, Representative of Sponsors; Sparta; Mr Alfred Tau, SAFA Representatives; Mr Titima Mokgorosi, Executive Chairman of C-Squared; Mr Ben Moseme, Bloemfontein Celtics Representatives; from Communications; Mr Sello Nduna and Player; Mr Jackie Motshegwa and from Kaizer Chiefs; Communications; Mr Vina Maphosa and Player; Mr Willard Katsande.
Speaking on behalf of the sponsors, Mr Alfred Tau said that Sparta is proud to be associated with Macufe Cup. Macufe surpasses any cultural event is South Africa and also includes soccer as part of its activities. “We are a proud Free State company and proudly so. Our roots are deeply rooted in the Free State soil”. said Mr Tau.
Mr Titima Mokgorosi, from SAFA stated that the role of SAFA in Macufe Cup is to render technical support by providing upcoming referees. This year, coaching clinics will be held in Van Stadensrus, Botshabelo and Soutpan.
MEC of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation; Me Mathabo Leeto, said that she looks forward to the expansion of Macufe Cup. “As big as Macufe Cup is, there is a need for us to acquire more sponsorships so that we can have bigger and more developmental programmes. This will help us to unearth more talent in the province”. said MEC.
In his closing remarks, Executive Chairman of C-Squared; Mr Ben Moseme said that, he is grateful of the continuous support of Sparta to the Macufe Cup. He also outlined details of different activities of the day, this includes amongst others:
- Entertainment from the likes of DJ Finzo and a live performance from the Bloemfontein Celtic Band.
- A surprise social cohesion showcase
- Bursary draw for 20 recipients.
Sparta Macufe Cup, will take place at the Free-State stadium, Sunday 8th of October 2017, kick-off time is at 15:00.
Gates open at 11:00 and fans are encouraged to come in early.
