Phuthaditjhaba: The Phuthaditjhaba Public Order Police Task Team together with Phuthaditjhaba K9, successfully arrested the 47 year-old suspect from Bluegumbosch near Phuthaditjhaba for possession of suspected stolen vehicle, diamonds and money laundering.

On Saturday; the 16 May 2020, the Task Team followed information to a house in Bluegumbosch where it was suspected that there is a person in possession of stolen vehicles and an illegal firearm.

On arrival at the said house, a silver vehicle BMW with NW registration numbers was found and when tested, it emerged that it was not reported stolen but had false registration numbers. A number of other registration numbers were also found in possession of the suspect.

On further investigation, ammunition, cellphones, identification documents and stones resembling diamonds and an undisclosed amount of cash were found. The suspect allegedly tried to bribe the police with R10 000 but they refused and arrested him.

 

The suspect appeared before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate court on Monday, 18 May 2020 facing charges of bribery, possession of suspected stolen vehicle, money laundering and possession of suspected diamonds.

The Provincial Commissioner of Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane applauded members for the great work and appreciated the community for alerting the police of suspected criminal activities within their areas.
