Virginia: The 25 year old man; Mohau Mamaseli, appeared at the Virginia Magistrate Court on Monday; 26 October 2020, for possession of suspected stolen property (stock theft) and possession of dangerous weapon.
The case was postponed to 02 November 2020 for bail application.
This comes after Virginia police joint forces with Theunissen and Virginia farmers, to arrest the suspect who was the driver of a white Colt bakkie, spotted with suspected stolen stock.
The farmers used drones to track the car whilst in communication with Virginia Police Rural Safety member Warrant Officer Dannie Pretorious. The vehicle was tracked down and found stationery due to a flat tyre on the R730 the Virginia / Welkom Road.
The vehicle was found loaded with a lot of cow parts and meat and seized. Five other suspects fled the scene before the arrival of the police and the farmers and are still at large.
A case of stock theft was registered for further investigation. On further investigation it was established that live stock was stolen at one of the farms in Theunisseun.
