Tseki; Qwa-Qwa: The police have arrested 14 suspects including two foreign nationals at Monontsa Village. This after a school alerted the police of a group of armed people attacking a person inside school yard.

It is alleged that on the 4 March 2021, foreign nationals were robbed by suspects at their shop and they then thereafter activated a group of about 12 people, armed with various kinds of weapons.

They drove in a white Toyota bakkie tracing suspects on their own. They allegedly spotted one of the suspects near the shopping complex and chased him towards Seotlong Secondary School, where school authorities alerted the police. The person they were chasing managed to flee unharmed.

Tseki police together with Public Order Police, Tactical Response Team, Crime Intelligence, Tseki Vispol and Detective members, rushed to school. At Monontsa Village, the police members spotted the bakkie fitting description with a group of people at the back.

It was stopped, searched and weapons such as knives; pangas; whips; spade and a golf club, were found at the back of the bakkie. Fourteen (14) suspects, including a minor, were arrested and detained for possession of dangerous weapons; unlicenced firearm and trespassing.

They are expected to appear before Tseki Magistrate court on Monday; the 07 March 2021.

“We will not going to tolerate acts of vigilantism and mob justice as they distort our investigation into alleged crimes. We urge the community to come forward when they suspect or have evidence that crime has been committed so we can investigate further.” said the Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane.
